SIXTH formers at two schools have put their art work on show in an exhibition in Yate Heritage Centre.

The fine art A-level students at Brimsham Green School and Chipping Sodbury School were asked to contribute to the display so visitors could see their range of skills.

David Hardill, Yate's community heritage officer, said it was the fourth year that space was offered to the schools. The pieces submitted were "challenging and inspirational", based on a theme of Contrast and Camouflage and a second of Reflections, Distortions and Changes.

He said: "Exhibiting art work in public is an important skill and for many of these young artists, this is a new experience."

The exhibition will continue until February 21 and can be seen at the centre in Church Road from Tuesdays to Thursdays and on Saturdays from 10.30am-4.30pm.

Visitors who go along on February 15 will also be able to join in textile craft workshops and learn about different traditional knitting and embroidery techniques.
