Does Graffiti Have A Place In Yate?

I have yet to see it for myself but there are rumours of a new 'graffiti' style art work appearing on the tattoo parlour wall near 'The Railway Hotel'.

I'm eager to go and see it for myself later on today but it has got me thinking….. Does 'graffiti art' have a place in Yate?
Graffiti street in Bristol has been a great success and the skill involved in creating those pieces is phenomenal, but, I'm not 100% sure I'd want to see that much more of it out side of the streets limits.
There are areas of Bristol that have incredible works by legendary artist Banksy on their walls, and to his credit, Banksy creates unique, stylised and subtle pieces that don't over power or irritate, but is it something that would be welcome in Yate?
As I said before, I have not seen the artwork for myself yet but in certain places, i.e. the tattoo parlour that is an artists shop, be it canvas or skin, art has a place there, but on my local butchers……. I'm not sure.
If the gallery in Chipping Sodbury were to produce a piece of wall art on their shop of a floral scene or the like, I'm sure it would be in the paper as a great piece of art, are we just dubious and unwilling to appreciate modern graffiti art?
What do you think?

ReportI think it looks fab!
I am not saying that Yate needs to be graffiti city, but it would be very good to see more public art dotted around the area - as they have done very successfully at Portishead.
If Yate wants to be seen as a place on the up, more public art can only help reinforce that impression!
Thanks Banksy!

Reporti think its about time we had something different in yate and i love the grafiti on the tat shop......it brightens up the road which as a whole yate is quite a grey, dull and uninteresting place....fair play love it!!!

ReportI think the graffiti looks fab and gives a bit of character to Station Road. I drive past it every day and would love to actually stop and look at it properly. To do that kind of work with a spray can takes years of experience and skill. If he can do that with a spray can then imagine what he can do with a needle!
I do agree that if it was rubbish and had been done by some spotty teenager who had nothing better to do than to vandalise then yes it has no place but this was created by an artist and looks great!

ReportCREAM???? yuk,yuk,yuk,.......is there a worse colour???? I think not!
Boring, bland, insipid, uninspiring, depressing and unimaginative.
Who put your brain on pause?
Nahhhh. Keep the artwork. Far better than braindead conformity.
Bland should be banned!!!!
