PATCHWAY Judo Club proudly returned from the Western Area Championships, hosted in Devon, with five area champions, two silver medallists and five bronze medallists.
The 15 competitors, who all train at the club, were part of a 25-player squad representing the Bristol region. Bristol (the smallest of the seven regions in the South West area) came second at the Championships, behind Devon.
For area champions Reece and Kieran Peacock, who are twins, and bronze medallist Chris Field, it was their last junior area championships, as all three turn 16 in December.
Two of the club's other area champions, eight-year-old Harvey Hirst and 11-year-old George Burton, it was their first area championships. And for the only female area champion, Chloe Gowen (whoss main club is Yate Star), she successfully defended her title.
There were silver medals for Charlotte Williams and Rachel Bennett, and bronze medals for Connor Wiltshire, Finley Norton, Ozzy Gowen and Caleb Wootton. Ryan Guest, Connor Madden and Harrison Grove all came fifth.
Patchway Judo Club achieved the Sport England bronze award in 2008, the silver club mark award in 2011, and is now working towards gold level.
