Is Yate Future Proof?

Recently a discussion began on Yate People about community spirit. Thanks to a link posted by AndrewMLow, we were all directed to a document detailing the plans for Yate and the community that plans its future until 2028.

The plan for the next 20 years for Yate looks impressive and sound great, but, is it all possible?

I think it is great that the team behind the community plan can see Yate beyond the next couple of years and can see potential way into the future but at the moment I struggle. I guess it may be easier for them with an insight into budgets etc. but to the everyday resident, can you see Yate blooming into a vibrant town again?

I guess I see one big dilemma in this, there is such a division between old and young in Yate, that there is no middle ground for middle aged.

There is nothing at this point in time that is vibrant enough to keep the late 20 to late 30's in Yate. Those with life, vigour and ambition just can't be kept here with a Wetherspoons and a Dorothy Perkins?

How can we future proof Yate? How can we bring vibrancy back?

We are all saying it, so why cant the shopping centre do something about it! no more card shops, 99p shops or phone shops. Its killing our shopping centre.

Not enough variety of shops. It's the same old arguement that there are too many card and phone shops. And now discount shops! It briings the look of the centre down. Burton is the only men's clothes shop and has been for a long time. I would shop in the centre more if there more shops to entice me.
