It is coming up to that season again, not only do we have the party season, but it's also burglary season.

Around this time of year we see a rise in the number of house and garage burglaries. Now is the time to ensure that our houses are secure and that we can ward off those uninvited visitors.

Only two weeks ago, my parents house was burgled for nothing more than a camera and a computer. The items are replaceable but the photos stored on each of their two week old granddaughter are not. This is the type of senseless crime that we need to fight against.

Now the nights have drawn in and it is already dark before we get home, invest in times for lights in your home so your house appears inhabited even before you get home.

Make sure you place all valuables out of site, I know how easy it is to leave laptops on the floor and cameras on the side table, but all these steps can prevent intruders getting what they want.

If you are buying lots of Christmas presents this year, store them some where safe. Put them somewhere that is not easily obtainable and make sure you have security lights and an alarm if you can.

Don't let your home be an invitation to unwanted visitors. You don't want your Christmas ruined by these mindless individuals.
