YATE Town manager Rob Cousins and his assistant Michael Meaker are close to agreeing a new deal to extend their time in charge of the Lodge Road-based outfit.

The management duo have thrashed out a rolling 12-month contract that will essentially keep them at Yate for the next two seasons.

The deal is close to being finalised and the pair have already started their squad strengthening by signing three new players.

Cousins has signed sought-after target-man Mitchell Page from Mangotsfield United, while Danny Wring and Ollie Price have been lured away from Bridgwater Town.

"We're glad to have got everything sorted out regards a new contract and it should all be signed and sealed in the next few days," said Meaker. "We're all gearing up for the new season now and we're hope to be firmly in the promotion mix.

"We've started building the squad for next season with the signings of three new players, who were sought-after by a number of clubs.

"They were all offered better money to go elsewhere, but have decided to come to us because they were impressed with the professionalism and the way we are trying to go about our business here."

Cousins and Meaker took over from Dave Mogg in the latter part of the 2010-11 season and suffered a difficult start to the last campaign. A mid-season revival, however, saw Yate become one of the form sides in the Southern League (South & West) Division, which saw them make a late, but ultimately unsuccessful, bid for the play-offs.
