Where is Yate's Road To Nowhere!

I have not been in the Yate area all that long and one thing has eluded me this thus far, The Road to Nowhere!
-
Where is the road to nowhere?
This is something I think Yate People can help me with.
This fabled place I believe to be the site of many a casualty episode and a source of contention amongst some in Yate. I am not sure why this road has never been completed, I don't know why it was every created but I know that some one on Yate People does know.
So Yate People, where is this place, why was it built and why doesn't it lead anywhere?
I am assuming that this road was initially made to lead somewhere and wasn't created merely for casualty episodes!
I would be very grateful if the Yate People community could solve this mystery for me and I can finally start to feel like a true Yate local.

Hi, it's basically just a continuation of Rodford Way, It's the other side of the Rodford Way roundabout with Westerleigh Road. Presumably the road would have continued over the railway lines, down Culvert Avenue and then across the Badminton Road roundabout where a short stub of road exists today.
According to my dad, who moved to South Gloucestershire in 1990, the short stretch of dual carriageway in Stoke Gifford, known as Great Stoke Way was also built as part of the same road, the road preceded the A4174 Ring Road, and Bradley Stoke so would have been an important link between Yate and Bristol.

ReportI've lived here some time and never been to see the road to nowhere, but I think its something every Yate resident should see.

ReportIt can be accessed on foot near Chedworth. Go down Westerleigh road and it's near the big round about. http://tinyurl.com/bvu5hms
It was built in the 70's when Yate was part of Gloucestershire Council. Avon came along without the funds to finish it so it's been left unfinished ever since.
It was meant to lead to the nearby industrial estate as part of the dual carriageway nearby.
