I agree........ Open up the road to nowhere and Build a bridge across the railway line and closing Nibley Lane becomes irrelavant plus 50% of Station Rd congestion disappears overnight as people in South Yate will have a proper route in and out of Yate bypassing Station Rd
Opening up the road to nowhere would probably cost too much money and probably move the traffic problem elsewhere.

Sorry, I really don't get the point of your reply. 'Would probably cost too much'.......you have nothing to base that claim on. I suggest that as a lot of the construction work has already been undertaken then the opening up of this route would in fact be a very cost effective way of reducing grid-lock in Yate Town Centre and along Westerleigh Rd and Station Rd.
Of course South Glos council would rather spend £millions to build temples in honour of its own magnificence than spend money actually addressing real problems that blight ordinary peoples lives.
'Would probably move the problem elsewhere'......again that statement is lazy. The problem exists, now, today, tomorrow and for the forseeable future in Yate centre and along all roads in and out of town. Opening this route would go a long way to alleviate the problem of traffic congestion in Yate and there is absolutely no case to argue to the contrary.
Every single car journey out of South Yate has to either go into the town centre or out along Westerleigh Rd or Nibley Lane . Opening up this route would take thousands of cars out of Yate centre , Station Rd and Nibley Lane and have a knock on effect of improving traffic along Goose Green Way ( because of the extra room created on Station Rd)
Of course the council wont ever complete the road to nowhere a) because now it is home to a few dozen rabbits and a couple of dwarf oaks, what the ignoramus's who run our town will attempt to portray as a nature reserve and b) because they can't afford these projects because they have mismanaged our finances for years.
Re :- The ''Road to nowhere''
We lost part of the then Westerleigh Common to the plans for this road, which would have be completed if Gloucestershire had not changed hands to Avon in 1974 and after Avon was abolished in 1996 and South Glos. came into being both refused to see the road built.
When the last industrial estate was at the planing stage, part of the agreement was that finance for the bridge over the railway would be be found !!
What about the revenue from the filming on the road, should not that go towards the road itself.

Futher to my blog 'Closure of Nibley Lane' and my remarks on the Road to nowhere.
I am very pleased there are like minded folk who like me feel strongly about this.
To our readers especially new residents who might like to Google 'myyate.co.uk' and read the Yate Community Plan dated 2008. A vision for 2028.
I quote from (19) Consideration should be given to COMPLETING the road to nowhere which would have BENEFICIAL EFFECTS FOR THE REST OF YATE.

It is reported today (Friday 19th August) will be the last time 'BBC Casualty' will be filmed in Bristol.
As many of you will know, many of the out door filming took place on our Road to Nowhere.
This will result in a loss of revenue for someone, I am guessing Yate Town Council, but is it not another reason to re-opening the case for completing the link road and take the traffic away from Yate town centre
