Public donations from the Grotto's wishing well at Yate Shopping Centre will this year be donated to Friends of South Glos Strays who help rescue and re-home stray and abandoned animals – and for those who haven't had time to visit there is still time to do so!
The Grotto will be open for at least four hours every day for the next week up to Christmas Eve.
As Tracy King, the Centre's Marketing Manager explains: "The Grotto is a traditional part of our Christmas festivities and is always popular with children. This year it is fantastic value at £3.00 including an age appropriate gift and is proving an overwhelming success. We've already raised nearly £100 in the wishing well.
"As the tills reach fever pitch in what is traditionally one of the busiest shopping weeks of the year, the Shopping Centre has already seen a substantial increase in footfall over the last two weeks with footfall 16 % and 9.5% compared to last year.
"With a mix of traditional high street shops and local independent traders, the Centre offers a good range for those looking for last minute presents."
Yate Shopping Centre will close at 6pm on Christmas Eve and a selection of stores will re-open at 10am on Boxing Day.
