Yate police arrested two men within 12 minutes of a report that a bin had been set on fire in the town.

A passer-by alerted police to the incident in Halifax Road, Yate, at 4.40am today, Wednesday August 10 2011. Officers attended immediately and found a garden chair had also been set alight outside a pub in nearby Wellington Road.

Two young men aged 17 and 18 were arrested nearby on suspicion of arson and remain in police custody today.
