How many screens? What company is behind the cinema? That's so funny!
Prepare yourself for a dose of reality ...

This is actually a Youth Centre, and I think the top floor is going to have the cinema added to create some cash for the centre though it is going to be made available to everyone.

Altogether now, hands in the air....Is this the way to Armadillo or maybe Purple Haze. How about Saturday night at the movies. And then after a visit to the cinema and a drink in Wetherspoons and maybe a boogie in the nightclub it will be I predict a riot (a Kaiser Chiefs hit so my young niece tells me!!)
Ah well time for another pill and a snooze, dream of walking round Wilkinsons
The reason it's that colour is because it's meant to be soothing and calming to antisocial juvenile delinquents! Which is a bit offensive to young people don't you think?

It must be down to the same person who chose the colours for the library.

I am given to understand that it is both a youth club and a cinema. The local political leaflets recently received through our letterbox claim it to be so. All are welcome. Our young grandson wants us to take him there, if there is going to be any children's films shown. No details have been advertised as yet. We are all waiting to hear.
This will never be the cinema that Yate needs. I imagine its just a small room with a projector , a pull down screen and a couple dozen seats.
Still our local politicians can now produce '000's upon '000's of leaflets praising themselves and ignoring the disappointment of the vast majority of residents who have known for years that our local councillors are not capable of delivering on the subject of a 'proper' cinema complex for Yate.
As for the Armadillo, that IS a great development and those politicians behind it can claim the credit, although typically everyone wants a piece of the credit whether involved or not, but a cinema it is not!
As for the colour.....I love it, and the library colours, but it's only paint and can be changed. I just wish someone would render over those depressing brown bricks on the leisure centre and brighten that miserable building up.
And then you would have to do the courts,Morrisons,fire/ambulance station & most of the other brick buildings that are in Yate & fit in with the surroundings.

I absolutely agree with you, Beanbagbob. .All the buildings in Yate compliment each other perfectly as the architectural standards have been abysmal for the last 50 years. The last decent building built in Yate was probably St Mary's Church, lol.
Seriously though bad buildings of the past are no excuse for constructing bad buildings for the future.
The Armadillo is different, innovative and interesting. I would like to see more buildings here that have been designed for their functionality AND their aesthetic appeal. I don't think the new Tesco will be amongstr that group.
Well, I am sorry if the so-called cinema will not be what we expected as I too now think that it is just a small room with a projector and a pull-down screen. It is said that it is aimed at the teenagers of Yate, so that will mean films for infants and juniors of our area will not be shown. As for the decor of buildings, I cannot say I've paid attention to them in that way, so I will be mindful to look next time I'm out there. The Armadillo seems to be in a popular shade and texture though, so maybe it will remain in that condition for many years to come, sad to say, as imho it is too much purple for my liking...sorry folks. Yate could be improved if some control was introduced to keep down the numbers of pigeons/collared doves. They are a darned nuisance! The noise they make is so repetitive, and so early in the morning too; not what we need. Anyway, that's just my thoughts on the matter.
Yes, PDantic, I saw that the other day and was dumbfounded as to how it was allowed to be there. It is so glary and annoying. Why do the authorities let this happen?
It is a sure way to start a trend for the whole of Yate, and we should complain to the council.
If I had wanted to "decorate" the side of my house with gory colours the planning department would want to know about it, I'm sure.
I havent yet seen this new 'artwork' but think i will take a look. The new graffitti street is pretty impressive but I like it contained to a small section. Some shops looks brilliant with this new 'artwork' but some places it just looks out of place. I will have to go and see this shop soon.
Not sure where you mean, jean1510, as I haven't seen any other "artwork" in Yate. Only the one by the Railway Hotel.
Where is "the new graffiti street"? I know I would not approve of any such decoration anyway, so it's good that I haven't seen it!
As for some shops having this new 'artwork', which ones? Banksy hasn't been here yet, has he? Maybe he should as then the work would be Art.
Let us know what you think about the one by the Railway Hotel.
Its Sir Lamppostpost, the 5th.
I am sorry - BobBeanBog made me do it.
He intimidates other users into doing his evil work. I'd be careful, or he will be entrap you too!
