Hopefully by now you have all purchased a poppy and
-
'Remember Them' In Yate
are wearing them with pride. This Thursday shall be the 11th of the
11th and we shall take two minutes to remember soldiers who have
fought and those that lost their lives in battle.
Remembrance Sunday falls on the
second Sunday in November, and this is the day traditionally put
aside to remember all those who have given their lives to fight for our
country. On this day people across the nation pause to reflect on the
sacrifices made by our soldiers.
For those that wish to honour the fallen on Remembrance
Sunday on the 14th of November, St Mary’s Church in Yate will be
holding a remembrance service at 9.15am.
Members
of the British Legion and Yate Town Council are coming together to remember
those who have fallen in battle.
You are
invited to meet outside Poole Court at 9.15am in order to parade along Poole
Court Drive, Home Orchard and onto Station Road. It is anticipated that the
parade will begin at 9.30am in order to allow sufficient time to assemble
outside of the Church and join the rest of the congregation at the commencement
of the service. Wreaths will be laid at the Church Lych Gate and the Parnall
grave at 11.00am.
Don’t forget your two-minute
silence on the 11th of November at 11am and wear your poppy with
pride.
