Yate Library are running a great scheme this summer you all
-
Join Yate libraries Summer challenge
its young readers.
Yate Library are inviting all young readers, between the
ages of 4 and 11 to take part in their summer reading challenge as part of the
national reading initiative.
The challenge is simple, the challengers have to read six
books over the course of the summer holidays.
The library will be running events, activities and
incentives throughout the summer to encourage the young readers to complete
their challenge.
This is a great way to get your children into reading and
what a fantastic way for children to keep occupied on those rainy days.
I remember completing a similar challenge when I was nine
and I have not looked back since. I learnt during my reading challenge the joy
that is to be gained from reading and since that challenge, my love for books
has grown and grown.
Get yourself down to the library with your children and sign
up for the scheme and pick out the best books. Going to the library as a family
makes the task much more enjoyable and really engages youngsters with the
books.

There will be several weekends on which the library will run events to entertain the young readers. Please come along and enjoy the events this summer. The joy of reading is one of the most powerful tools you can arm a child with, the passion will give them skills that they will call upon throughout life and especially during their years of education.
