Litter in Goose Green Way

Every time I take this route I am shocked at the amount of

litter that is left behind by passers by and the groups of young people who

congregate there in the evenings.

I still can’t quite believe that even today, the message

does not get through to people about litter and the environment. I fail to see

what is ‘cool’ about discarding rubbish.

I now that certain areas constantly battle with young people

gathering and are a prime area for litter and broken glass, but I would have

thought that these areas would be a ‘hot’ area for the councils to maintain and

keep clean.

Is there a reason the areas are left for a while before

being cleared up? I came to think that possibly they are left to discourage

groups from staying in that area but in certain areas, it just does not

discourage them.

Do you know any other ‘hotspots’ for youths and rubbish in

Yate? Are there areas that the council should be aware of as they are harming

the environment and creating potential harm for walkers, dogs and young

children?

The friends of Yate Common are a fantastic group. If only there were more community groups like that around. We could have a fantastic town if everyone treated the environment like them.

There are certain areas on the common that attract alot of youths and that tends to mean a lot of litter too. The friends of Yate Common do a great job of keeping on top of the situation though.
