Would you let Yate Common become a carpark?

Who has come up with the grand plan, to build a car park on Yate Common?

Who in their right mind, would agree to an area of green space, one of the last few green spaces we have, being subject to a development?

I could not believe my eyes when I read about Yate common being considered as an area to build a car park.

A council sub committee has been created to address demands for more facilities in the area, which include football pitches but also car parking.

Friends of Yate common have threatened to resign over proposals to see the land considered for development.

The sub committee has been primarily created to respond to reaction and responses to demand for facilities in the area. When speaking to local residents yesterday, they were horrified that the area of natural beauty and wildlife would be considered.

Yate resident Mandy stated “I didn’t know that could even be possible, I just assumed the land was protected from development, I would be horrified if they built on the common.”

How do you feel about a car park being built on Yate Common?

Would you welcome any development on the common?

Why won't these Councillor's answer the Question? I'm starting to wonder if these Councillor's have breached their Code of Conduct? By telling people to join The Friends of Yate Common if they are passionate about fighting for the common and then rejecting people who try to join (like me) and then telling everyone that there has been minable resistance to the development thats "NOW" taking place? So answer the Question!!!!

The results reported in the article above were the numbers given to me by the council so someone needs to get the facts correct before they hand then out to the public. And to say that residents are interested in the common is a ridiculous statement. Residents are interested in the common, but how can you fight a local council who, from the outside, only seem to please themselves.

Oh, now we have another Councillor! That was not the Question! How many members of the group are "Independent" of the council and attended the last "General Meeting" of the Friends of Yate Common??? I bet the questionnaire was put together by you. The thing is if the members of the General Meeting are not Independent from the council then people will say they endorsed the car park by not putting up a strong enough fight! So answer the Question!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for the record only 107 questionnaires were returned,18 responses by email, and 2 letters.
The Friends of Yate common, handed in a petition with 88 local users of the common signatures.
And it was put on My Yate.
I dont think the local residents are at all interested in Yate Common.
And if you dont like the councillors, local elections are in May,you know what do do.
