Yate Heritage Centre is holding a 70th anniversary of the Yate bombing on the Parnall Aircraft factory next year.

The Parnall Aircraft Factory, now home to a washing machine manufacturer was bombed 70 years ago during World War Two air raids.

The factory was bombed on two consecutive days and 54 men lost their lives during the attacks.  Yate Heritage Centre are now hoping to mark the anniversary of one of the worst air raids on Yate this coming February.

Yate Heritage Centre will be hosting a World War Two history day where life in the auxiliary Air Force will be re-enacted and stories of Yate during these times will be told.

Yate Heritage Centre is now looking for survivors of the bombing to come forward and share their stories to become part of the anniversary memorial.

David Hardhill of Yate Heritage Centre would like as many surviving staff members of the Parnall Aircraft factory to attend the celebrations and to share their stories of the Auxiliary Air Force.

If you are or know of surviving members of staff, please get in touch with Yate Heritage Centre on 01454 862200.

Celebrations will take place on February 27th 2011.
