unused land into allotment space have been scrapped due to Yate Town Council
finally finding the land unsuitable. The list of green-fingered Yate residents
is ever growing and in these days of recession the idea of grow your own is
becoming more and more popular
An area of land on Stover Road was set aside to be turned into
allotments but has now been branded too dangerous to use by the council as
there is unsuitable access for pedestrians and vehicles.
There are over 30 people on the
waiting list for allotments in Yate and the town council is now asking for
people to nominate suitable spaces they could develop.
A steer group has been set up to
identify space in surrounding areas including Chipping Sodbury, Iron Acton,
Yate Rocks and other surrounding towns.
Are you waiting for an allotment
space or do you know of any suitable space for development? Let us know.
Can Yate People help solve the problem?
For more information visit Yate Town Council's website.

ReportDoes anyone know what the current wait time for an allotment is? Last I heard there was over a year long wait. Is that still the case?

ReportI agree, trampolines aren't particularly an efficient use of space. My parent's garden isn't big enough or suitable for growing much. Thats why I would like an allotment, I love to cook, so to have my own fruits and vegetables would be amazing! Not to mention having a hobby I could do outdoors, and retreat to when you want a peaceful few minutes to yourself! Its something to work at and be proud of, I think! Not just an extension of a play area. :/

ReportIs there a council board or group that overseas the use of allotment space? allotments should be for vegetables/plants only - not trampolines!
