What do you think about 'Yatepeople' helping our Senior folk with computer problems

Just because they can remember when we had a king, does not mean they are excluded from owning and using one, infact it my be a life line.but when there are problems, who to turn to!

With the best will in the world, families have their own lives to live and at the end of a working day the last thing they want is to sort out computer problems, and as we have all experienced, its not always easy to understand PC help over the phone.

I am not advocating major breakdown advice, but a life line to give confidence to our neighbours to help with what may be a simple task to some but a mountain of worry to others.

Well, a while ago I wanted to start my own IT business in Yate where you could buy a computer but also get help with anything from how to send an email or surf the web to repairs and servicing. It's something that PC world don't really offer after you've bought the system but we would continue to support the customer.

But I wouldn't have been able to compete price wise, especially with Tesco's now selling computers and not just computer mice but white chocolate mice too.

    Glad you agree Andwar49.

I was lucky to work with computers for a few years before I reired, in those days it was twin flopp'y machines, a mouse was brought in by the cat and the net was something we went fishing with! We worked with a dot prompt on a black screen.

I thought a question and answer forum would help.

I think its a great idea. I myself am over 60 but do know a lot about computers, having used them since the early 80's. When I was living in Bath I helped out with the local Salvation Army once a week helping older people with the use of computers.

When I moved to Yate earlier in the year I looked to carry this on, but nowhere in Yate is there any service like this.

I am more than willing to give help to anybody who has a simple problem using computers. In fact I will give it some thought and maybe set up some kind of service either on here or by some other means.

If anybody has any ideas then please let us know.
