Club gets in to swing of giving

Members of Chipping Sodbury Golf Club have raised £10,000 for a charity which helps poorly children.

They held a number of fundraising events during the year including a 72-hole golf challenge which was completed in seven hours, 14 minutes and raised £1,000.

A charity event which saw more than 40 teams taking part raised £6,000.

Children's Hospice South West runs a hospice for children at Charlton Farm, Wraxall, which opened in April, 2007. Jane Powell, community fundraiser for CHSW, said: "The club has worked tirelessly throughout 2009 and we are delighted that they have raised such a significant sum for CHSW."
