DRIVERS in South Gloucestershire are being invited to have their say on how the council should spend its transport budget.

Signs alongside the Avon Ring Road encourage motorists to join the debate this month.

Consultation events are also taking place as the council, with the three other councils in the West of England region, puts together a plan for transport over the next 15 years.

The events are at Yate Shopping Centre from 11am to 3pm today, Thornbury Town Centre (near Aldi) on Monday, September 13, from 11am to 3pm and Kings Chase shopping centre, Kingswood, on Tuesday, September 14, from 11am to 3pm.

Councillor Brian Allinson, executive member for planning, transportation and strategic environment, said: “We know that the very high national debt means that public funding for transport projects is likely to reduce over the next few years.

“It’s therefore really important that we understand our residents’ priorities for transport in the area. I would urge as many people as possible to complete the questionnaire and have their say.”

Residents can complete a questionnaire at

The draft plan and all the supplementary documents are available online, or you can read a printed version at your local library or council office.

The consultation deadline is Monday 4 October.
