South Gloucestershire has got local council elections booked for Thursday May 6th, so it looks likely that that will be general election day as well.

If you don't know if you are registered to vote look at the electoral register at the library e-mail: Electorial.Services@southglos.gov.uk, or phone 01454 463030 to check. If you have moved house into this area recently you may not be on the electoral role.

A registration form can be downloaded by clicking on this link: registration form. Registration can not be done on line, the form can be filled in on line, or printed out and filled in by hand and then sent to:

Thornbury One Stop Shop, Castle Street, Thornbury BS35 1HF.

Steve Webb the Liberal Democrat MP for Northavon is Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. He entered parliament on the !st May 1997 after the general election.

He has spoken in thirty one debates in the last year which is above average for MPs, and has had three hundred and thirty six questions answered in the last year, well above the average for MPs. He has voted in seventy four percent of the votes in parliament, which is above average. He is often described as hard working.

He was not implicated in the expenses scandal. He voted strongly against the Iraq war, and has voted strongly in favour of the investigation into the war. He voted for the hunting ban, and is not in favour of introducing ID cards. He has a strong interest in the environment.

Nice to hear from you. I have looked at the labour candidate Roxanne's site.  She is no doubt a lovely lady, but so young to be in the rough and tumble of politics!  I will be writing plenty of other articles before the election. No doubt you (as well as the rest of us) will be sick and tired of the whole thing by election day. Thank god this is not America! What do you think of the 3 main candidates?

What about the other two Prospective Parliamentary Candidates for Thornbury and Yate Constituency?

The Young Labour candidate who is educated, upwardly mobile and intelligent Roxanne Egan: tinyurl.com/ybmjp6f

Or you could try the Tory guy who looks like he's got his hand stuck in the cookie jar : tinyurl.com/y8ge8um
