We are all keen to know whether our local MPs support the views of their senior party members in Westminster.

Steve Webb, MP for the new Thornbury and Yate constituency has given his full support to the new coalition government that see’s the leader of the Liberal Democrats take his seat as Deputy Prime Minister.

The two parties together believe that they will provide Britain with a stable and united government and assure us that their parties gave them their full backing to enter into the coalition government.

Steve Webb has highlighted that as no party was given a majority in this election, the only option was parties working together.  He believed that the country needed a stable government and in order to enable a government to maintain stability and avoid another election within the next year then a coalition was the best for the country.

It was announced that the next election will be on the first Thursday in May 2015. The Liberal Democrats and the Conservative party have outlined a five year programme for a five year parliament.

It remains to be seen if this alliance of opposing parties can stand the test of time, but as the saying goes, time will tell.

Do Yate voters agree with their MP?
