Yate School praised by OFSTED inspectors

Kings Court Primary School Sundridge Park was recently visited by OFSTED and was awarded an overall grade of 2.

Grades range from Grade 1 which is outstanding, Grade 2 which is good, Grade 3 which is satisfactory, and grade 4 which is inadequate.

The inspectors main findings were that the school had shown considerable improvement since the last inspection in both pupils' attainment and their personal development. The school now provides a stimulating curriculum which motivates the pupils, relates to their interests and focuses on the main area for development enabling them to achieve well.

Parents have recognised the progress made and many have commented on it in their response to the OFSTED questionnaires.

Good leadership and management were found to be at the heart of the school's success with special praise given to the head teacher Ms Maddy Kent. It was noted in the report that her determined and resolute tackling of weaknesses has driven the school forward.

Significant improvements in the quality of teaching since the last report has accelerated the pupils progress. Attainment in English has improved significantly, and to a lesser degree so has maths.

The school was found to make good provision for the pupils' personal development and ensures that the pupils' are extremely well cared for. The pupils' were found to be extremely polite and to enjoy their learning.

North Road Community Primary School, Yate has also had a recent inspection by OFSTED.

The school achieved an overall Grade 3, which is satisfactory. Some aspects of the school, such as pupil behaviour were given Grade 2, which is good.
