Yate Youth Cafe - Are you still concerned?

With work due to start in June on the Yate Youth Cafe, what do the residents of Yate really feel about the proposed Youth scheme now it is about to move into the construction stages?

The £1.3m project is designed to be a meeting and activity space that encourages young people to hang around in a controlled space and away from the town centre. It is intended to provide a cheap and accessible space that young people can learn in be involved in.

Although this space is designed to stop gangs of young people crowding in the town centre areas such as the embankment on Goose Green Way, is it worrying for Yate residents that large amounts of young people will be attracted to one area?

Inside the youth cafe, there will be DJ decks, enterprise schemes for young people to get involved in and an area for local bands to perform as well as disco and cafe space.

Although a great idea and greatly inspiring on paper, are you worried that the Youth Cafe could be a source of friction between larger groups?

Would you like to know what type of security and conflict measures would be used once the cafe is up and running?

I am concerned that the late opening hours could combine with some surreptitiously partaking in illegal underage drinking that may then cause issues, are you concerned too?
