Has anyone else noticed the growing number of vacant shops

Yate Shopping Centre's Growing Number of Empty Stores
in Yate shopping centre?
More and more shops are closing down inside Yate shopping
centre and are remaining vacant for some time. They are left derelict and are
promoting a negative atmosphere within the shopping precinct.
Over recent months, a number of stores have either gone into
to receivership or have cut stores to save on costs. Sadly these stores have
not been taken over and have been left empty, making Yate shopping centre
looking unwelcoming and not worth a visit.
South Gloucestershire Council have put forward plans to turn
these empty stores into restaurants and have even looked at chains such as
Bella Italia and Pizza Express to fill these empty spaces.
Do we really want restaurants to fill the void in Yate, or
are there stores that would encourage us to shop in Yate town centre more
frequently?
Steven Evans
from South Gloucestershire Council has recognised the impact shopping outlets
such as The Mall and Cabot Circus have had on the shopping centre but
encourages the introduction of chain restaurants to the shopping centre.
What do you
want to see happen with vacant stores in Yate? Is there a shop you think Yate
could benefit from?

I'd love to see an HMV or a PC World store come to Yate. I'd really like some more high street stores to open in Yate. Bringing the stores to Yate would encourage us all to shop locally. I love the idea of Yate having a music store of some description. I'd like to see a store like NEXT also. They cater for the whole family and home-wares so would be a great addition to the shopping centre.

ReportI'd like to see more high street chains in Yate. It would encourage more people to shop locally and not venture into Bristol. I'd like to see the likes of Miss Selfridge and Next in the shopping centre.
