Yate traffic nightmare on the B4465

Has anyone else been caught in the traffic when leaving or entering Yate on the B4465 Westerleigh to Yate road?

Due to the crossroad traffic lights being out-of-order at the Westerleigh Hill junction, drivers are having to wait, at times, up to 30 minutes at temporary traffic lights that are obviously not set with sensors.

Yesterday, in the mid-day heat, drivers were forced to queue from the Westerleigh hill junction all the way back the Crematorium. These drivers were given no clues as to why they were forced to a halt. There were no temporary traffic light signs and some drivers eventually gave up in the queue and turned around.

What is even more infuriating, is that when you eventually get closer to the front of the queue, it is clear that the North and South queues, the road heading to and from Yate, are not given sufficient enough time to get a good flow of traffic through.  You are then forced to wait while the lights are set to change for the East and West roads, when there is no traffic sat at those sets of lights.

This four-way traffic nightmare is a major headache for commuters to and from Yate. Can Yate council not appreciate how busy this road can be? Should there not be sensor-controlled lights at this junction?

I agree, sensors on the temporary lights would have been a great idea here. There were engineers at the lights today, so lets hope they are gone soon.

I was getting very angry waiting in that queue and was even more angry to find it was due to poor temporary traffic lights. There are normally lights at this junction so why does it all go wrong when temporary lights replace the normal lights? If they had been set on sensors then it would not be an issue.
