As last Sunday drew nearer and nearer, the more flags and football shirts that went  on display. But what do we do with them now?

The pubs were full to bursting on Sunday as Yate waited for the 3pm kick off for England versus Germany.  Yate stood proud with flags flying everywhere, all along Badminton Road, through every pub in and around Yate and Celestine Road became an England shrine. Sadly they boys stood less proud as we failed to make our way through to the next round.

But, the big question now is, what do we do with our flags? Do we leave them flying until the world cup ends on July 11th or, do we take them down in shame in light of our poor performance in the World Cup?

What do you think went wrong with our boys in South Africa? The theory throughout the pubs and back garden BBQs of Yate on Sunday was that our boys were tired and their seem to be some unrest within the camp. Did John Terry’s actions prior to the World Cup leave a bad feeling amongst the players?

My theory is that the team became less of a team when John Terry betrayed team mate loyalty and I have taken down my flags and will keep them ready for the Euros in two years time. I have faith the team will rebuild and come back stronger with Capello as manager.

I hate to say it but the German player Muller got it right when he said there were too many Alpha Males and not enough team players in the squad.

I still believe hat Capello will get it right and the euros will be his competition. Ship out The Egos and bring back footballers with passion for the game.

I'll take my flag to Lodge Road next season and support Yate Town FC.

I have taken mine down in shame. there is obviously some unrest within the camp that needs to be addressed. I am now routing for Spain.
