Would you like an MP who always voted for what the majority of us wanted?

Are you one of the people who don't vote because you think who ever you vote for it doesn't make any difference?

On Tuesday this week a new type of political candidate emerged in Hackney East London. An independent candidate Denny de la Haye is standing on a platform he calls Direct Digital Democracy.

He believes that for every issue that arises in parliament every person in the country should have the chance to vote for or against. "At present we all have one vote and we pick a party we believe in and trust that they will vote how we would them to vote, and sometimes they do and sometimes they don't," said Mr de la Haye. "They sometimes just vote the way their party tell them to. I think we can do better than this. I think we should be starting to create a direct democracy right now, enabled by the digital technology that is already available to us. That's why if elected I promise that I will vote how the people of Hackney South tell me to vote."

There would be three exceptions to his proposed system. He would always vote for laws which improved equality, or improved civil liberties, or improved the chances of the direct digital system being expanded.

Would you like to vote on all the issues that come up in parliament using your computer or mobile phone? Do you think this system would attract silly votes? Or do you think this is a good way of the people getting what they really want instead of a load of broken promises? How would this work in Yate and Chipping Sodbury? Would it be a good system for local government, who seem to do exactly what they want to with no regard for us?

Visit the Get a Vote website for more info.on the system.
