mangotsfeild to yate cycle route

the Mangotsfield to Yate cycle route is a great ideal and for the Yate residents to say it is unsafe well here we go again whenever something new is proposed they have to moan about it ! they moan because they don't have anything for the kids and families to do in Yate wonder why?
the cycle route will give the Yate residents a great opportunity for some peace and a cheap ,safe day out for them and the kids and a safe route for walkers and cyclists to be able to get from Yate to Bristol in one piece as the roads around Yate are becoming busier and more dangerous day by day ,i live at the back of the proposed route and i hope it goes ahead and i will certainly be using it !
so come on Yate residents move with the times , do you want a quite cycle track or a big main road!

the problem is there are many people that have become more reliant on cars,there are many people who simply don't need to drive down the shops (ie-5 mins away !) we are becoming lazy as a nation , building a cycle route will provide a safe way for people that want to cycle there may be increase in the people who use a cycle if they had safe routes to use . cycling on bristols roads is like a game of Russian roulette .some drivers don't give a dam who they hit as long as they are safe in their piece of metal and they get to where they want quickly sod everyone else. to cut the number of vehicles on the roads you first need to sort public transport and provide safe routes for people to cycle , its no good thinking buiding bigger roads will solve the problem because it won't in the long term. and yes a drive a car and i am a cyclist.

ReportOK, very true. It shouldnt be a choice between a cycle link and a road link. Both need to be improved together. I feel it is true that Yate needs to re-think and re-evaluate the importance placed on road and cycle links to Yate. It has been left for too long without any improvement. Yate needs to spend time and money on routes in, out and around Yate.

We need both. The traffic congestion around is NOT a result of there not being enough cycle paths but because the road system out of Yate is inadequate.
We need good roads for the massive amount of vehicle traffic AND good cycle routes for the almost negligible amount of cycle traffic in Yate.
One should not preclude the other.
Of course the real problem is that the council ALWAYS want to do everything on the cheap.

ReportI completely agree, the cycle track would provide so much for the area and will be a great new link for Bristol and Yate. I think without question this development of the cycle track needs to go ahead for Yate to continue to develop. Cycle routes are key parts of every city and a town without good cycle links is now almost cut off. Who needs another road link, we need more economical links.m
