Impressive Yate earn good win

YATE picked up their first win of the season after a hard- fought match at Wimborne.
Dave Mogg’s side deserved their victory, but they had to battle hard to overcome a Wimborne side that never gave up and it needed a series of fine saves from goalkeeper Josh Demspey to ensure they kept the Dorset side at bay.
Indeed, Dempsey made a good early save to stop Wimborne taking the lead when Lee Chudy broke clear of the visitors’ defence.
Yate took full advantage of their let-off and opened the scoring themselves in the 12th minute when Mark Reynolds made ground down the right, cut into the penalty area and slid the ball calmly past the goalkeeper.
However, Wimborne continued to be positive and Dempsey had to remain vigilant throughout.
Yate were always dangerous in possession themselves, though, and they could well have gone in at half-time with a more substantial lead.
Early in the second half, James Stokoe was unlucky to see his header strike the post as Wimborne pressed for an equaliser.
Instead, Yate made the game safe in the 73rd minute when Chris Lewis drove the ball home from 20 yards for his first goal for the club.
Five minutes later, Jake Cox broke away on the right and his excellent cross was headed into the net by Reynolds to make it 3-0.

If Yate get a result ( either win or lose) and Almondsbury do the same in their Cup match then on Bank Holiday Monday its...........The Big Derby
Thommo's Return........as it's Yate Town v Almondsbury Town at Lodge Rd. 3pm kick-off and we see Richard Thompson , Yate Town's most successful ever manager who was acrimoniously sacked after 9yrs at the helm 2 yrs ago come back to Lodge Rd as manager of newly promoted Almondsbury.
Should be a classic.
Get down there if you can and cheer on The Bluebells. we are hoping for a decent crowd and a great local atmosphere.
Non-League is the true heartbeat of English football.
