MORE than 500 fans turned out in support of popular non-league stalwart Rob Cousins at his testimonial match against Bristol City last night.
Cousins, 39, who began his career as a young professional at Ashton Gate, was granted the match by former club Paulton Rovers after clocking up his 1,000th senior game last season.
Cousins, pictured, who has since joined Yate Town, has also played for Bath City, Forest Green Rovers, Yeovil Town and Mangotsfield United.
Cousins was greeted by a guard of honour with his two children, Megan, nine, and Jack, seven. City fielded a side containing eight senior players, including striker Danny Haynes after a two-month injury lay-off.
Haynes converted an inviting Jamal Campbell-Ryce cross from close-range in the 39th minute and City doubled the lead soon after half-time through Jimmy Keohan.
Substitute Marlon Jackson (two), Louis Carey and David Clarkson added further goals to round off a comfortable work-out.
City: Gerken, Ribeiro, Edwards, Carey, Ball, Campbell-Ryce (Jackson 62), Williams (Keohane 46), Johnson, Lennox, Clarkson, Haynes (Hoban 62). Subs: Keohane, Hoban, Carey (gk).
