Why not try your hand at fishing this summer.

Fishing is one of the top sports in the UK so why not take

advantage of the fishing on offer around Yate and learn the art of fishing this summer.

Yate is surrounded in brilliant opportunities to try your

hand at fishing, as there are many lakes and fishing schools in the local area.

If you fancy a day out learning a new skill and also being

educated on the local fish in the area, perhaps pop down to one of the several

local lakes. Bitterwell, Bagwood and the Bristol Lido all provide great opportunities

to try your hand at the sport.

Fishing tackle, rods and baits are all available for hire

and purchase at the local lakes and there are also several good fishing shops

around the local area too.

I have only ever attempted beach casting so I am very

tempted to try my hand at a spot of ‘reel’ fishing. What advice would fishermen give to those wanting to try out

the sport for the first time?

Where is the best place around Yate to fish?

I can highly recommend Bitterwell lake. It is a well maintained lake and the location is fabulous. It is a brilliant place to start out and learn about the sport. The guys (and girls) down there are very knowledgeable and the local fishermen and always happy to help educate the new people to the sport.
