We were all wondering what would be happening with regards to congestion and traffic management if the 3000 new homes in Yate go ahead, and now it seems we may know the answer.

A proposal has been made for a new train station to open in Yate. The plan would propose a new station be built in North Yate to meet the demand from the new housing in Brimsham Park.

As there are only two main exit roads from Yate, it is suggested that a new railway station will ease the congestion in and out of Yate.

What are your thoughts towards a new train station in Yate to combat congestion from 3000 new homes?

Is this a good idea? Will a new train station solve the traffic problem or is something more focused on beating the traffic cues in and out of Yate more appropriate?

They has been discussion lately on YatePeople regarding the road to nowhere. Is this a better solution to the future congestion issues?

I think you should be on the transport planning committee in South Glos Council. It takes local knowledge and experience to solve the traffic issues, not just someone sat in an office.

I like the idea but there needs to be a more joined up approach to the transport issues surrounding Yate.

The new Tesco store, the soon to be new Waitrose store, The West Walk Medical centre , The magistratres courts, The Shopping Centre all do or will generate a lot of inward traffic to Yate and the road system will struggle.

A new train station would be better in South Yate on the old 'Ash Track' site below Wapley Woods adjacent to Shire Way as it would be direct to the M4 corridor towns, London and South Wales.

The Road to Nowhere should be finished and renamed The Road to South Yate's prosperity. There should be a major route out of North Yate constructed to head towards the A38/M5.

Then a road to the Bristol Ring Road at Emersons Green , bypassing Westerleigh, with a new Motorway Interchange would complete the full set needed and serve Yate/Sodbury well for the next 50yrs...........simple really.
