Weight Restriction on Station Road in Yate
After seven years of campaigning and petitioning, a weight limit has now been set for lorries travelling along station road. Lorries over 7.5 tonne will now be diverted from Station Road on to Goose Green Way.
The 7.5 tonne limit will be exempt to those Lorries delivering to businesses to Station Road but for other heavy goods vehicles will have to take the diversion.
It has taken seven years to finally get this restriction set in place, but why did it take so long?
Was it the latest accident involving a young child that was the straw to break the camel’s back and made the council set a weight limit?
Did it really take for yet another dangerous incident to highlight the worries and dangerous of such large vehicles travelling along this road?
What do you feel about the weight limit on this road? Do you think it will make a difference to the road safety record on this road?
I am extremely pleased about the introduction of a weight restriction, not only will it help with safety on the road but it should also help with congestion around the area.
